King Jeongjo built Hwaseong Fortress in 1796 to be the new capital of Korea. Today, it's a UNESCO World Heritage site in the heart of Suweon, the capital of Gyeonggi Province. Gyeonggi Province, the Gyeonggi Association of Foreign Invested Companies and Korea Business Central invite the international community from the Seoul area, as well as those from the four corners of Korea, to join us for Gyeonggi Business & Culture Networking Day on Saturday, October 8, 2011. This promises to be "An Out-of-the-Ordinary International Business Engagement" in a beautiful and easily accessible area just south of Seoul. In fact, while the main business event starts at 5pm that day, the annual Hwaseong Cultural Festival will be underway in the area the weekend of the 8th and a special (and FREE!) cultural experience is being planned starting at 2pm. (Click here for details.) However, the main business networking event will take place at the Suweon Hwaseong Museum at Hwaseong Fortress. The entire three-story museum will be open for our exclusive use and this business networking event comes with dinner and drinks included (of course!). Rain or shine, the venue is ready! As many of you know, KBC Creator Steven S. Bammel is an FDI Advisor to Gyeonggi Province, and a consultant to GAFIC. Thanks thanks to this connection, this event is being co-hosted by the Province of Gyeonggi, GAFIC and KBC, leading to an incredible level of up-front support such that we are now working on great prizes and other surprises, including some very VIP attendees, not to mention, a very reasonable price of W20,000 per person! |
Transportation:
Hwaseong Fortress is only minutes from Suweon Station, which on the subway line south of Seoul and is a stop on the KTX.
There are numerous buses going all the way to the venue, but taxis are plentiful. Not only that, we have about 300 free parking spaces available AND we're running shuttle buses between Sadang Station and the venue at Hwaseong Fortress.

I already registered... but the early bird will have to catch an early plane from London. Even if I can't make it on time, here's the teaser on the blog.

Last year, we headed over to Suweon to walk the walls of Hwaseong Fortress. It took about three hours at a leisurely pace; could have done it in two. So, Hwaseong is certainly more approachable than say, trying to get all the way around the walls of old Seoul.... It does cover some nicely varied terrain though, including a hike up the hill behind the palace, and there's a trolly that runs a circuit which people can take if they don't want to walk as much. Anyway, when attending the event on October 8, if at all possible, I encourage you to come several hours early to see the sites (not to mention the festivities, that day, too!). Here are some photos to let you know what you'll have in store if you do:
