We really appreciate the members who send private messages about the KBC community. It's both enjoyable to discuss and helpful for us in understanding our distinguished membership and in getting ideas for improving things.
As this is a public and open community, I've set up this discussion topic as the "preferred" channel for member communications related to KBC in general. Private messages can be OK too, but the ones to this discussion are the best, since it lets us bring the sharing out into the community and involve others in the flow of ideas.
By sharing in this discussion and putting more minds together into the feedback, ideas, suggestions and questions, I hope that we can improve even faster and further!

Hi Steven,
I love the site, but I think the content may have outgrown the layout. I think it could be cleaned up a little bit with a topic/subtopic layout. I am still a new user to the site, and sometimes I feel overwhelmed by the sea of content on the front page.
Aside from that, I really love the site. Keep up the great work!

Rick, thanks for the note and feedback.
Yes, I struggle with the content/layout balance a lot. In part, it reflects my personal style. There are a few items on the front page that are in my sights; hope to make some incremental changes soon.

Permalink Reply by Philipp Grunwald on August 13, 2011 at 7:21am Two things to make the usage of KBC faster:
1). Let us/me put comments of the wall of any group, not just the ones we are registered in! I don't want to join any group I might want to leave a comment at just for their information.
2). Remove the "first be friends" restriction to be able to message people. I don't see the reason behind it!

Philipp - Thanks for the suggestions.
1) Some groups are open; others are closed. But it is a basic principle that one must be a member to post, otherwise, what's the point. For the open groups, you could always job, leave your comment, and then leave.
2) This is a Ning restriction and not one I can change. However, we do have spammers getting through the sign-up process occasionally, and this restriction is a barrier to people getting hit by unwanted messages from strangers, both spammers or otherwise.

I think that new "weekly digest" report is great. A great way to see what's going on and be able to pop in on what you like without having to go searching to far. Great idea. The site fiverr does a very similar thing and I love it there as well.
Cheers,
Rob...
