I've been contacted by MANY of you who are looking for internships, so I hope you see this post:
I recently made a couple of phone calls: Samsung C&T presently at doesn't accept foreign interns from overseas (they have a program for foreign students attending Korean universities ONLY)
HOWEVER:
The guy in charge of the Global Internship Program (Choi Jin Woo, Senior Associate seccrecruit@samsung.com) explained that they are in the process of expanding their program to potentially include foreign students currenly enrolled at overseas universities.
Please contact him. Their internship program usually starts in June -so make contact now ...receiving genuine expressions of interest from up & coming global talent just might help them more deeply feel the need to expand their program ^.~
I hope this helps ^.^

Thanks a ton, Lara. If this can get internships for just a few KBC members, it would great!
But the demand is huge... Let's all put our heads together (virtually) in the months to come and come up with an internship plan for next year so that more young people can get their feet wet in Korean business and spread the "good" word about doing business in Korea.
That can only be good for "Korea, Inc."
excellent idea, Steven!
...perhaps some sort of "matching interns with prospective intership providers amongst us" service / function ...maybe a database (listing) of KBC members who are wanting interns?
Permalink Reply by Dave Woods on January 25, 2011 at 11:36am At this point the goals are unclear (uncommunicated). I would HOPE that one of their goals is to give as many teams as possible the experience of having a foreign teammate -and this point has been raised with HR about a month ago.
Contact the person listed above ^.^ -he maybe wanting some help once he gets bombarded.

Is there a specific role or job scope for the Internship Program? Like HR Business or IT?
I have no idea^.^ I would guess that interns across all / most business areas are welcomed.
You'll get your best answers by asking the contact person in HR (listed above in the original posting) at Samsung directly ^.~
I'm not actually a Samsung employee: I'm just doing a very short-term consulting gig here ^.^

Permalink Reply by Bryan Chen on January 29, 2011 at 10:01pm Hi all, i am just wondering, if it's a necessary thing to send in a follow-up email after you send in an application? Like should i just wait for their reply or send them another email thanking them for their consideration?
Sorry for posting non-related in this discussion.
^.^ NEVER apologize for asking questions~
I've never applied for an internship (in any countrry), so I'm not sure ...BUT, personally, I would likely send one after about one month (I would hope that you would receive some sort of confirmation from them that your application has been received).
Maybe you could keep everyone in this thread updated (and same with the others who apply) as to what you experience throughout the process?
-if you're comfortable doing so^.~
Permalink Reply by Bryan Chen on January 30, 2011 at 2:28pm Sure, i can do that. I do not mind sharing my experience if i do have the chance.
So far, it's about 3 months now since i first send in my first application seeking a job or interview, and so far i've gotten just 2 replies, and no idea what happen to the others. Maybe i send them the English version of my Resume, Cover Letter and Email, that's why i curious if a follow-up email is the way to go.
Where did you apply? -was it with one company or several?
Permalink Reply by Bryan Chen on January 30, 2011 at 4:52pm I've tried alot different company. Mostly from sites like seoul global center, Kopra, and also PeopleNJobs
Most of the job advertise there state that one of the main requirement is to speak and write fluent English, so i though i would give it a try, and i've stated that i speak and write fluent English and i will be taking additional Korean Class to brush up my Korean language.
But well, after so long still have no answers or replies from them. And the only few replies i had were from Pantos Logistic that was posted in KBS weeks ago. I am curious that if they actually read through my application or they just ignore it since it's not in Korean. Untill now i am still trying to figure out what's the best way for applying a job in Korea.
