I came across this unique set of pictures on the internet. Copyright from a gentleman named Bill Smothers who had lived in Korea many years ago - please open below link.

If you go the right side of the screen you'll be able to see more than 100 rare photos of Seoul/Korea - enjoy.

Permalink Reply by Mike Park on May 10, 2011 at 12:15am Taken before my lifetime, these photos really put into perspective how much Korea/Seoul has really developed into a modern city after only 50~60 years since the Korean War. I can now understand the awe of many Korean War veterans after viewing these pictures.
For instance, you can see in the photos that there is really absolutely nothing near what is called the Kangnam district today - the impression of the Hannam Bridge (while being built) is absolutely breath-taking. Compare the image with panoramic picture of Seoul today (on our very own KBC homepage top).

Those are great, Mike. Amazing transformation...
My only regret from the collection is that I wish Bill Smothers had gotten off base to take more photos....
BTW, don't forget the 1962 collection from Bill Sterrett at this link: http://www.koreabusinesscentral.com/page/korea-photos-1962
