I think it really depends on the company. I'm just back from a dentist and I'm sure you would like his card:) (I could've written his card was thick and hard enough, but someone would misunderstand:)). Feel free to edit the post, Steve:))
Also most of the securities companies here in Yoido privide their employees with good quality cards.

Jure - Thanks to another reader, I found a thicker card stock in Korea. If you go to page 24 in the guide, under the 제품분류 (product type), instead of 수입지명함 (imported paper), choose 최고급수입지명함 (best imported paper). You can then get 엑스트라머쉬 (extra marshmallow), which is the cardboard stock you're thinking of. It costs about double though.

Seems that some of the K cards I'm receiving recently are printed on material that is thin, but resist tearing and ripping.

Thanks, Don. Yeah, I know what you're talking about. Is it only Koreans who are using that material for their cards?

Steve, this is a really nice guideline for non-Korean people to understand unspoken business rules in Korea. I took a quick look at the attached e-book and, as a native Korean speaker, I would like to point out a few mis-spelled Korean words you used for examples in the book.

Page 14,
Founder = 설립자 : You can also use 창업자
Co-owner = 공동소우자 : I believe that this is mis-spelled. 공동소유자 is correct.
Governor (of a state) = 주지다 : "주지사" is correct
Governor (of a province) = 도지다: "도지사" is correct
Senator = 상의원 : "상원의원" is correct
Congreeperson = 하의원 : "하원의원" is correct. I think that Korean people usually use "Congressman or Congresswoman" and called "국회의원(Kuk-Hoe-Yee-Won) in Korean as there is no concept to distinguish Senator and Congressperson.

Page 15,
Chartered Public Accountant (CPA) = 공인회계사 : Please corrrect me if I am wrong but does it "Certified Public Accountant" stand for CPA?
Professional Engineer (PE) = 전문공학자: I believe that it would be better use "전문 엔지니어" instead of using "전문공학자." 엔지니어 is more common way to describe engineer than 공학자. "공학자" might give readers/listeners the impression of someone with PHD degree or academic researcher.
Certified Financial Planner = 공인재무기획사 : I remember that some of my friends in Korea use "공인재무설계사" in their business card. You might want to ask around about this.

Page 19,
Pager & Beeper: I don't know what is exact difference between pager and beeper but they seem to be the same thing to Koreans. "호출기" is more correct and formal expression than "삐삐"
Toll free phone : 수신자 부남전화 = "수신자 부담전화" is correct.

I know those are very small stuffs but hope these comments are helpful to finalize your book before it is published in paper. :)

That e-book is helpful to me. Because I have shared this e-book with my friend who wants to do business in Korea, and I read it with interesting. I was getting to know some of important things by this e-book, too.
