Perhaps there are probably some obvious answers here, but I'm hoping to open up some kind of a resource where people can turn to when questioning the huge variety of websites and web based applications currently available.
I use Linkedin (the best by far), twitter (which has a fine purpose but is far too distracting), evernote, and dropbox. i have also started using a bookmarklet/firefox add-on called 'read it later' which is useful if you come across a lot of very worthwhile articles on the internet and need somewhere to store them and come back to later. I could probably use more but this is all I need. I do have more 'work' related apps on my phone, but I still find myself turning to these reliable apps more than anything else.
So, what would you recommend and why? Obviously some websites aren't for everyone, so give a little description of how this functions and why you choose it, please
Thanks for your feedback everyone!
P.S. Did you know there's an iPhone app called isocial, which you can enter in a ning site, such as Korea Business Central or Linked Seoul, and you can use the app to keep you up to date with the comings and goings of your favourite ning site!

Make sure you include Google Docs on your list. That, along with a lot of other Google services, makes for a valuable but free virtual work application.
