Hi!!
I have a question about a Korean online learning source :)
Couple months ago some of my friends shared a link :
http://fsi-language-courses.org/Content.php
Actually this website is really interesting. I am copy- pasting the the first paragraph of the first page,
" Welcome to fsi-language-courses.org - the home for language courses developed by the Foreign Service Institute.
These courses were developed by the United States government and are in the public domain.
This site is dedicated to making these language courses freely available in an electronic format. This site is not affiliated in any way with any government entity; it is an independent, non-profit effort to foster the learning of worldwide languages. Courses here are made available through the private efforts of individuals who are donating their time and resources to provide quality materials for language learning."
My question is;
I wonder that the Korean Languge courses are current are not? I mean daily Turkish we are talking now is very different than 20 years ago and the Turkish language in the lectures are quite old. The only thing I understood (I hope I do not get it wrong) is whole courses are in Formal Korean.
Anyway it seems useful. The audio files under "Korean Basic Course (New)" headline are for downloading and If I am not wrong, a PDF workbook can be downloaded as well and its totally legal.
Also there is an option like listening online all courses in that link: Korean Basic Course (Original)
P.S: Since I am new in the platform, I do not know every rules about discussion forums. If adding a new subject about this issue, let me know please.

Thanks for the posting, Tugba.
I am going to add this new link to our Learn Korean page here http://www.koreabusinesscentral.com/page/topic-central-learn-korean
As for whether the content is contemporary or not, I would say you don't need to worry about it at this point. Of course, Korean changes just like any language but it's still essentially the same as it was before. Of course, you should be mixing your study with actual practice and this will help you to learn the latest usages, etc.
Hello Tugba,
Thank you very much for introducing a very useful link to the community ! I'll be a regular visitor to the site from now on. For its assessment WRT its currency, I wait for a comment of more qualified member because I haven't had the chance to really start learning Korean.
Kind Regards,
Nobu

I used the old edition to teach myself some Korean before I came here two years ago. That version dates back to 60s. It is dated, but was still useful for me... especially in sometimes bewildering the people I talked to.
Some sites try to sell these FSI courses, but you should never have to buy them.
I didn't know about the new version until you posted this. How is it?
