Collecting 1,000 paper cranes is considered good luck by some in Korea. Treasure Bammel is somewhere on her way to this goal. Guessing how many paper cranes are in the bowl is the object of our contest to win the final prize from the 2011 Gyeonggi Global Business and Culture Networking Event.
An old Japanese legend said that anyone who folds a thousand paper cranes so
pleases the gods, the folder is granted a wish. One of the most well know stories is
Sadako and her 1,000 paper cranes whom sadly passed away from Leukemia as a result from the Atomic Bomb in Hiroshima before she could complete them...there is now a memorial in the Hiroshima A-Bomb park for her.
During my time at High school in Japan, I personally made 1000 cranes and laid them at the memorial.
Treasure...
keep up the good work...it takes a long time, but it is very well worth it in the end...
I hope the Gods grant you a very good wish....

Wow! That's a fantastic story! I had no idea there was really a history behind it... Thanks for sharing. I'll be sure to show Treasure your posting. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure...I really wish Treasure all the best...
At that time when I did this, I had no idea my own life would be impacted by Leukemeia...so it's kind of fitting ...life is sometimes strange like that..
Plus, there are some good things that come out of Japan :)
