The first ever Business Network Korea Meetup went well and everyone I spoke to felt that it was well worth their time. There were 26 smart people there effectively building their business network in Seoul, Korea.

Attendees included investors, English teachers, web designers, bloggers, marketers, people in finance (CPA), people in sales, CEOs, global company workers, various types of entrepreneurs, and a few people looking to just network for the purpose of bettering themselves.

It was great to see excited, engaged, and passionate people networking with one another. It was even more awesome to meet people I have interviewed in the past; Damari McBride of UnScene Magazine, Ryan O'Loughlin of RealWorldMyth (Click here to read his blog review on this event), and Wade Hawkins of Seoul Art Group.

The meeting started off with registering and mingling with early attendees. It was awesome to finally get the first ever BNK meetup up and running.

The meetup did not go exactly the way I planned, but people got to meet others and the next meetup will be much better.

I realized that the main reason people were there was to meet each other (well, of course) and that instead of acting as a host, I should have gotten more involved in the speed networking aspect.

I am planning of making the next meetup as followed (These improvements are based on attendee feedback and my own observations):

1. Registration and mingling

2. A short introduction (Just like in the last one).

3. Speed Networking.

4. Mingling/Small groups (Your choice)

We are going to make the speed networking the main event, because the hope is for attendees to meet new people and take their discussions to another location (after the event is through) over dinner or coffee, which quite a few attendees did.

From now on, I am going to make it my goal to meet every single person at the meetup and talk to them for at least 2 minutes. (During speed networking, during the mingling portion or during other pockets of time)

Speaking in my soft and gentle voice into a mic, "okay everyone, it's time to switch...switch!...switch?...Is anyone listening to me?" Just didn't work. So, I figure that if I carry around my timer and get in the action and physically switch and tell people in my surrounding area to switch; it'll be much more efficient. What do you think?

It was a definitely a challenge organizing this event; this concept of gathering all business minded people currently in Korea into one room. However, it was well worth the blood and sweat

The main Social Networking Services (SNS) I used were meetup, LinkedIn and twitter. I used a bunch of others that are SNS in Korea such as KoreaBusinessCentral and LinkedSeoul. However, I did not tap into my Facebook account of nearly 1000 friends. Of all my friends on facebook I invted 0!!!

*I can explain why I didn't use Facebook as much as I could of to anyone who wants to know. Just ask in the comments or email me.

Nonetheless, it was an awesome experience planning Business Network Korea and thank the first ever attendees from the bottom of my heart. I also want to thank you for reading this and taking interest in Business Network Korea (BNK)

I truly hope BNK will help you meet people currently in Korea effectively. It is important to build relationships and make them strong, but we can't make more time. If you are a "cut to the chase" kind of person or a "Get things done" (GTD) type; we would definitely like to see you at the meetup and allow us all to build a large network in a short period of time.

The next meetup is on Saturday October 20th at The Dental Solution from 4:00pm - 6:30pm. Register early to save money and to push yourself to become a more successful person.
